This statement was issued by Chris Killoy, President/CEO of Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc.
“Ruger has issued a Product Safety Bulletin for 9mm Ruger American® pistols with serial number prefixes ‘860’ and ‘862.’ We have recently discovered that these pistols may exhibit premature wear of the locking surfaces between the slide and barrel, which, if ignored, can result in a crack developing near the ejection port of the slide. This typically does not occur at round counts below 10,000 rounds. The condition is easily
identified during routine maintenance and cleaning, and the crack should be visible long before the pistol becomes unsafe to shoot. Ruger American® Pistols chambered in .45 Auto are NOT subject to this Safety Bulletin. Complete details regarding the Safety Bulletin appear in the attached Product Safety Bulletin and online at Ruger.com/APRetrofit. While only a small percentage of pistols appear to be affected, out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of safety, we are requesting that owners of Ruger American® Pistols chambered in 9mm inspect their pistols for excess wear and/or cracks. If either of those conditions are present or if you are uncertain, we
invite you to visit our website at Ruger.com/APRetrofit and sign up for the retrofit.”

Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK) could be the difference between who lives and who dies. Most of us keep these little packs in our cars, hiking pack, school bag or anywhere they may fit. The main components of an IFAK were figured out in accordance with evidence-based medicine and best practices, in accordance with TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) guidelines. Almost 90% of American service men and women who die from combat wounds do so before they arrive at a medical treatment facility.
These kits can be used to care for hemorrhage, airway opening, respiration, circulation, hypothermia, eye trauma, burns, fractures, wound care, antibiotics, shock and much, much more.
